MaskMail – Project Archive

Formal Notice

MaskMail was a free, privacy-focused email aliasing service that operated live from 2021 to 2023 at mailmask.github.io. During this time, the project successfully generated over 10,000+ aliases, serving users who sought a secure way to protect their real inboxes from spam and tracking.

This service, which began as a passion-driven hobby project, was sustained independently without any external funding. Unfortunately, due to increasing operational and API-related costs, the service became financially unsustainable and has been officially discontinued since late 2023.

We thank all our users for their trust and support during the project’s active years.

Project Summary

MaskMail allowed users to generate anonymous email aliases that forwarded to their actual inbox, preventing spam and data exposure.

Problem

Users often shared their real email addresses with untrusted platforms, leading to spam, data breaches, and unwanted tracking.
